In order to ensure a secure fit, it is important to match the gauge of the ear nut to the gauge of the ear post. Keep in mind that the higher the gauge number, the thinner the post will be.Measure the widest part of the threaded portion of the earring post. Use a digital gauge/caliper in order to obtain accurate results.
21 GAUGE = .71MM = .028" (Typical of baby or toddler earrings) 20 GAUGE = .82MM = .032" (Thinner posts, common on less expensive earrings) 19 GAUGE = .90MM = .0375" (Available in push-on-screw-off styles) 18 GAUGE = 1.0MM = .040" (Thicker posts, typical of more expensive earrings)
Screw the back to the post with a turning motion, much more secure than a push-on back! To put on, hold the earring back behind the lobe, and turn the earring from the front. That is easier to maneuver, and it avoids your hair becoming twisted into the back of the earring.
